From March 17 to 21, MAKE Lit and partners present the 12th annual Lit & Luz festival, “Repair/ Reparar” with free literature and arts programming in Mexico City.

Join members of the 2025-2026 Collaboration Cohort from Mexico and the United States for five days of poetry readings, artist talks, author conversations, and live performances culminating in the Mexico City debut of the Live Magazine Show at Museo Universitario del Chopo on Saturday March 21 at 6 p.m.

Entre el 17 y el 21 de marzo, MAKE Lit y sus socios colaboradores presentarán la doceava edición del festival Lit & Luz: “Repair/Reparar” con un programa gratuito de literatura y arte en la Ciudad de México.

Únete a los miembros del grupo de colaboración 2025-2026 de México y Estados Unidos en una semana de lecturas de poesía, pláticas de artistas, conversaciones de autores y performances en vivo, culminando con el estreno del Live Magazine Show en el Museo Universitario del Chopo el sábado 21 de marzo a las 6 de la tarde.

The 12th annual Lit & Luz Festival of Language,Literature, and Art—as featured in, WBEZ’s Reset with Sasha-Ann Simons, Chicago Review of Books, Block Club Chicago, and more—takes place November 9 to November 14, 2025 in Chicago and March 17 - 21, 2026 in Mexico City. This one-of-a-kind cross-cultural, bilingual festival brings together writers, poets, and visual artists from Mexico and Chicago for a week-long series of public programming across venues in both cities. 

This year’s festival—under the theme of “Repair/Reparar”—asks writers, poets, and artists from Chicago and Mexico to look critically at their surrounding realities in need of repair. Through artistic creation and collaboration, Lit & Luz Chicago will explore and promote the many ways creative acts make an impact and offer new perspectives on what it takes to face and reimagine our shared realities.

The closing and signature event of Lit & Luz is the Live Magazine Show, a stage presentation in which pairs of artists from both countries—the Collaboration Cohort—debut new work that was jointly created in the months prior. The 2025-2026 Live Magazine Show is presented in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and the Museo Universitario del Chopo and will take place at both venues Friday, November 14, 2025 in Chicago and Saturday March 21, 2026 at 6 p.m. in Mexico City.

La doceava edición del Festival de Lengua, Literatura y Arte Lit & Luz, como ha sido reseñado en WBEZ’s Reset with Sasha-Ann Simons, Chicago Review of Books, Block Club Chicago, entre otras publicaciones, tendrá lugar en la Ciudad de México del 17 al 21 de marzo. Este festival bilingüe, único en su tipo, reúne a reconocidos escritores, poetas y artistas visuales de México y de Chicago durante una semana de programación cultural en distintas sedes de ambas ciudades. 

El festival de este año, bajo el lema de "Repair/Reparar", busca indagar cómo escritores, poetas y artistas de Chicago y México analizan críticamente la realidad que los rodea y cómo puede ser reparada. A través de la creación artística y la colaboración, Lit & Luz Chicago explorará y promoverá las múltiples maneras en que los actos creativos pueden impactar  y ofrecer nuevas perspectivas sobre lo que necesitamos para afrontar y reimaginar nuestra realidad compartida.

La clausura y principal evento del festival de Lit & Luz será el Live Magazine Show, una presentación escénica en la que dúos de artistas de ambos países (El Grupo de Colaboración) estrenarán obras creadas conjuntamente, durante los meses previos a esta edición del Festival. El Live Magazine Show de 2026 se presentará en colaboración con el Museo Universitario del Chopo el sábado 21 de marzo a las 6 de la tarde.

The Lit & Luz Festival is a one-of-a-kind series of events featuring renowned authors, visual artists, and musicians from Chicago and Mexico in cultural exchange and conversation. This series of readings, conversations, artist talks, and performances, including signature event, the Live Magazine Show, highlights new translations and artistic collaborations—showcasing some of the most innovative contemporary artists from both countries.
