Alex E. Chávez

Alex E. Chávez is an Assistant Professor at the University of Notre Dame. His book Sounds of Crossing: Music, Migration, and the Aural Poetics of Huapango Arribeño (Duke 2017) is this 2018 winner of the Alan Merriam Prize from the Society for Ethnomusicology. An accomplished musician and multi-instrumentalist, he has recorded and toured with his own music projects, composed Emmy Award-winning documentary scores, produced for Smithsonian Folkways, and collaborated with Grammy Award-winning artists. Currently he serves as a Governor for the Chicago Chapter Board of the Recording Academy.

Alex E. Chåvez es profesor asistente en la Universidad de Notre Dame. Su libro Sounds of Crossing: Music, Migration, and the Aural Poetics of Huapango Arribefio (2017) es el ganador del Premio Alan Merriam 2018 de la Soceity for Ethnomusicology. Müsico experto y multiinstrumentista, ha realizado giras con sus propios proyectos musicales y ha compuesto partituras documentales ganadoras del Premio Emmy. Actualmente es Gobernador de la Junta del Chicago Chapter Board of the Recording Academy.
